Biography

Her research group is using germ-free mice to understand how early exposure to intestinal microbes educates and regulates the developing immune system. And how this affects susceptibility to immune-mediated diseases like allergies and autoimmunity.

Background: Kathy McCoy’s PhD in Immunology is from the Malaghan Institute of Medical Research, Otago University in Wellington, New Zealand. Postdoctoral studies were done at the Institute of Experimental Immunology in Zürich, Switzerland.
